January 14, 1958 ~ May 22, 2022 (age 64)

Obituary

Kenneth LeRoy McCray was born January 14, 1958, in Blythewood, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Quincy (Evelyn) McCray. Surrounded by his loving family on Sunday May 22, 2022, Kenneth departed this earthly life to be with the Lord.

Kenneth McCray affectionally known as Mac, was educated in the Public Schools of Richland County, South Carolina. He was a graduate of Spring Valley High School. Upon completion of High School, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Airforce, serving as an Aerospace Control and Warning Systems Operator from 1975 to 1979. After his tenure with the Air Force, he devoted 17 years to the United States Postal Service as a Mail Courier.

In 1980, Kenneth met the former Chartsice Anderson; and on February 14, 1986, the two were united in holy matrimony. God blessed their union with 36 years of love and devotion to each other.

Kenneth accepted Christ in 2001 under the leadership of Pastor Gail Hopkins, now Pastor of Gateway of Righteousness. Kenneth joined Open Door Christian Ministries in 2000, under the direction of the late Barry S. Mitchell. While worshipping at Open Door Christian Ministries, Kenneth was ordained and served on the Deacon’s Board as well as a member of the Outreach Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Sunday School teacher and taught Bible Study.

Kenneth was also preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia Goines, Larry McCray, Gloria Williams and Beverly Able.

Though the presence of Kenneth LeRoy McCray is no more, his memories and other expressions of love will be forever embedded in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife, Chartsice McCray of Columbia, SC; his adoring children, Keneshia C. McCray, Kenneth E. McCray, Brian S. McCray and Chelsie N. McCray, all of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Craig C. Harvey, Caitlyn C. Harvey and Claire C.
