Kenneth Lee Dunbar was born April 12, 1960, in Gadsden, South Carolina, the son of the late Daisy Dunbar and George Tucker; and the adopted son of the late William and Eartha Lee Green. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Kenneth was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a 1976 graduate of Lower Richland High School. Kenneth retired from the City of Columbia where he worked as a trucking foreman. He also worked for Morris Furniture Company for more than twenty years.
Kenneth was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Trina Green with whom he shared thirty-seven years. Mr. Dunbar was a devoted member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where he served for more than twenty-five years. During his tenure he served as a Trustee.
Before his health declined Kenneth faithfully visited the sick. A people’s person at heart, even though he was not able to physically visit, he would call family and friends and would talk for hours. Kenneth will be remembered for always saying to others, “God’s got me, and I’ll give out before I give up.” After thirteen years of dialysis, Kenneth’s body became tired. He told his doctor that he didn’t want to continue with dialysis. When his doctor asked why, he responded to her by saying, “God said son, come on home. “
In addition to his mother, father, and adopted parents, Kenneth was also preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma English and Debbie Tucker; brothers, Joseph Dunbar and Alexander English; and brother-in-law, Edward Smith.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Kenneth are his loving wife, Trina G. Dunbar; sons, Kenneth, Joseph, Timothy and Sherman; eight (8) grandchildren; brothers, Carl Morris, James Cunningham, and George Tucker; sisters, Rosa Lee Smith, Veronica Helen English, Jackie Minder, Johnnie Mae Bonapart and Sharon Tucker; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
