Mrs. Katherine T. Jones was born April 15, 1927, in Hampton County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Bell Taylor, and the widow of the late Willie Jones, Sr. Katherine was born again into eternity on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
“Miss Kat”, as she was affectionately called, was educated in the public schools of Richland County, and attended Waverly High School. She went on to completed over 50 years of domestic work in some of Columbia’s finest homes. Katherine was faithful, honest, and always displayed a Christian attitude with everyone.
She was a dedicated member of Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church #1 for over 50 years, where she served as a member of the Pastors Aide and attended Bible Study Weekly until her health declined.
“Miss Kat” was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by her sons, Willie Jr., Oscar L., Sylvester E. and Melvin L. Jones; daughters, Janie Mae Jones, and Easter Mae Jones; brother, Brownie Taylor; sisters, Neather Flowers and Lydia Taylor.
Those who will forever cherish Katherines fond and precious memories are her loving son, Frank M. Jones; loving daughters, Loretta (Robert) Bates, Christine Jones, Delores Jones, and Darlene Jones; twenty-seven (27) grandchildren; forty (40) great-grandchildren; three (3) great-great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss her dearly, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
