Karen Kennedy, one of thirteen children born to the late Israel and Katie Baxter, was born on June 10, 1937, in Springfield, SC. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 10, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Karen worked for Richland School District One, in Food Service from which she retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
She was also a faithful member of Pleasant Branch United Methodist Church in Norway, SC, where she found strength and community for many years.
She devoted her life to working, being a loving wife, and taking care of her family. Karen was known for her passion for cooking, particularly during the holidays where she would bake homemade pies and prepare meals for her loved ones. She also enjoyed planting flowers and hosting family gatherings, where her love and care for her family were always evident.
Karen was preceded in death by her eight brothers, four sisters, and her late husband, Andrew Kennedy Jr., with whom she shared 25 years of marriage.
She is survived by her loving son, Booker T. Baxter; two loving daughters, Dorothy Ann Baxter and Linda Mae (Donald A.) James; four adoring grandchildren, S. Nicole (Kelsey L.) Pickett, Demarcus L. Baxter, Donald A. James Jr., and Keesha R. James; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Amar Pickett and NaKayla Pickett; two goddaughters, Veronica (Ceaser) Gorman and Aikeba Glenn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
Karen's memory will live on through the many lives she touched with her unwavering love, faith, and kindness.
