Judy Dianne Lowery was born in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Sgt. Jimmy Tyrone Lowery, Sr. and the late Brenda Mattison Lowery. As a true Army Brat," her childhood was a mosaic of landscapes, stretching from the dry plains of Texas to the red clay of Georgia, and finally to the heart of South Carolina, where she graduated from W.J. Keenan High School in 1993.
With a heart of gold set on understanding the human soul, Judy entered the University of South Carolina to study Psychology. There, she embraced the ideals of sisterhood in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, vowing to walk in the light of service, scholarship finer womanhood, and sisterly love. Her academic path eventually led her to the hallowed HBC U halls of Benedict College, where her pursuit of higher learning culminated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration in 2002.
Judy was a free spirit, a collector of moments and "thrifty treasures." She found beauty in creation, the quiet patience of fishing, and the thrill of the open road. She walked with a unique flair-often in her signature themed socks and bright hair-and shared her love through the culinary arts, most with her cherished "Ghetto Jambalaya." Her professional life was a testament to her versatile spirit. She moved through the world as a nurturer in childcare, a comforter as a Certified Nursing Assistant, an advocate in the Democratic Party, and finally, a pátissiėre at Krispy Kreme, where she spent her final days crafting sweetness for the world.
At Antioch Baptist Church, Judy's faith took wing as her voice rose with the Inspirational Gospel Choi, and her willingness to serve was ever-extended in the Women's and Youth Ministries. She understood that true spiritual peace was found in the curve of a stranger's smile, and giving unselfishly to her family and friends.
Judy's radiant legacy will forever be cherished in the sacred hearts of her children & grandchildren: Kennedy (Jhaime, A'se, and Sevynne), Isaiah, and Brennan (Xion); her siblings: Joyce ( Braxton and Brooklyn) and Jimmy Jr. & Shante: (Jimiyah, Keith, Tamya, Stacie, and Kyrell); her devoted friend: Michael Vanover; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, beloved "God peeps" and Greek family.
"Her spirit shined like gold, but 'nothing gold can stay'." - Love, Joyce
