Joyce Ann McGhee Brown, daughter of the late Rommie James McGee and Mary Aretha McGee, was born December 19, 1943. She departed this earthly life on Monday, August 15, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Joyce received her high school diploma from Richland Northeast High School in 1983. She worked at Risdon Q Mist from 1979 to 1986 on the perfume operation assembly line. In 1986, Joyce was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield from which she retired as a Claims Adjuster in 2010.
After eleven (11) years of dating, she and Wesley Brown tied the knot and were united in Holy Matrimony. On August 24, 2022, they would have celebrated their 3rd Wedding Anniversary as husband and wife.
Joyce was an avid crafter. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She created decorative (doll) bed pillows for little girls, afghan blankets/throws, and ABC block baby blankets; all created with love for family and friends. Joyce also loved her plants. She was blessed with a “Green Thumb”, and she could make almost anything grow. She was famous for asking for “a little piece of your plant”. She would take it home and repot it, and that little piece would blossom. Just as she would ask for a piece, she would share a piece in return. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Joyce is lovingly survived by her loving husband, Wesley Brown of Fayetteville, NC; sons, David (Kim) McGhee -Green , Reginald McGhee, both of Columbia, SC; Kevin McGhee of Salt Lake City, UT; and Robert (Michelle) Spicer of Greenville, SC; her loving daughters, Deborah McGhee of Alexandria, VA; and Lisa Murphy of Atlanta, GA; eight (8) grandchildren; seven (7) great grandchildren; two brothers, Rommie (Mildred) McGee of Columbia, SC; and George (Barbara) McGee of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Delores (Raynard) Jones of Gaithersburg, MD, and Brenda Williams of Wilmington, NC; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief of her departure, but rejoice that she is with the Lord.
