Joyce Diane Capell

Joyce Diane Williams Capell, was born November 1, 1958, in Columbia, South Carolina.  She was the beloved daughter of Nellie B. Williams and the late Benjamin F. Williams.   She departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Medical Center, in Columbia, South Carolina. 

Joyce, “Nay Nay,” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of Columbia High School.  After graduation she continued her education at Rutledge College.  Joyce was employed with Forest Pines Retirement Home for many years where she worked as a caregiver. 

Mrs. Capell was a member of Cleaves Memorial CME Church.  She was a very loving person and a nurturing mother to all she encountered.  Her family was always her main priority.

Everything from her smile, to the way she made others feel was amazing.  Her strength is what defined her the most; simply because she had overcome so many obstacles in her life, with a simple smile.

Joyce was also preceded in death by her brother, Tarpape “Trap” Williams; and her twin sister, Joy Denise Williams Patterson.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Joyce are her loving husband, Anthony Capell; her two loving sons, Rico Williams and Rapheall Capell; and her loving and devoted daughter, Melissa Capell; her loving mother, Nellie B. Williams; loving brother, Alonzo (Wanda) Williams; loving and caring sisters, Linda (Willie) Jacobs, Brenda Watts, and Vanessa Richardson; four caring brothers-in-law, Leonard (Joyce A.) Capell, Frederick Capell, Alfred (Angela) Capell and Bernard (Deborah) Pinckney, Sr.; three caring sisters-in-law, Regina Pinckney, Cynthia (Terry) Jennings and Debra Mims; nine loving grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom Join the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure.
