Joyce Sarah Sligh, 67, of West Columbia, SC, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Lexington, SC.
Joyce was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Sarah and Joseph Ziminsky, on October 9, 1958. She married Larry Sligh in 991 in Allentown, PA. In 1994, Joyce co-founded "Law & Order", a paralegal company designed to help the underserved community get access to support and resources they needed.
Continuing her efforts to advocate for the underserved community, Joyce also earned her realtor's license and worked as a realtor for ERA until 1996, helping individuals gain home ownership when they were previously turned away. Joyce and Larry relocated to South Carolina and Joyce worked for Century 21 until she retired in 1998. After retiring, Joyce continued to provide legal and tax services to anyone in need while homeschooling her children and offering assistance to anyone who needed a helping hand. Joyce also owned New Fair distribution until 2024.
Joyce is preceded in death by Seymour and Antoinette Stucker (grandparents); Joseph Jr and Sarah Ziminsky (parents); Dorothy Sligh (mother-in-law); Joseph Wayne Ziminsky II (brother); Linda Ziminsky (sister-in-law).
Joyce is survived by her beloved husband Larry Sligh Sr. of West Columbia, SC; children Stephanie (Devon) Owens of Philadelphia PA; Debra (Israel) Ellis of West Columbia, SC; Arthur Ellis (son-in-aw) of Newberry SC; Jenevera (Travis) Ziminsky of Lexington, SC and Larry (Ryneshia) Sligh, Jr of West Columbia, SC. Siblings, Michael (Sherrie) Ziminsky of Nuangola, PA; Beatrice Ziminsky of Newberry, SC; Mark (Tina) Ziminsky of Newberry, SC.
Grandchildren, Essence Owens of Philadelphia, PA; Jalissa Ziminsky of Columbia, S.C.; McKienzie Maybin-Ellis of Newberry, C; Devon Owens of Philadelphia, PA; Markel Ellis of Pineville, NC; Jade Owens of Ithaca, NY; Julian Ellis of West Columbia, SC; Cassidy Callahan of Portsmouth, VA; Carter Callahan of Lexington, SC; and Leilani Joyelle Sligh of Tabor City, NC; great-grandchildren and other sorrowing family and friends.
