Joseph Corbett was born in Columbia, South Carolina on July 25, 1936, to the late Deacon William M. Corbitt and Deaconess Frances Taylor-Corbitt. He was the third of thirteen siblings.

On Thursday, November 8, 2018, he quietly departed this life in the comfort of his home, leaving behind loving memories for his loved ones to cherish.

He was educated in the pubic schools of Richland County. He was a hardworking man who later retired from Richtex Brick Corporation where he was employed for more than 18 years.

Joseph Corbett began his relationship with God at an early age. He was converted and received into full membership at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Eastman Street, Columbia, South Carolina.

He was devoted to his family, and his love for God kept him throughout his life. He never complained about his condition. He knew that the time would come where the former things will have passed away.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Wilhelmina D. Corbett, one daughter, Wilma Corbett; two brothers: Willie and Lewis Corbett, and one sister: Modjeska Nelson.

He is survived by eight children: James Lee Murphy, Mickey (Teresa) Joyner, Gregory Suber, Michael J. Suber, Wilhelmina D. Corbett, Joseph (Aswanda) Corbett Jr., Jennifer L. Corbett and Jeannette L. Corbett-Jones all of Columbia, South Carolina; five brothers: Henry (Marva) Corbett, Thomas (Willie Mae) Corbett, Clayton and John Corbett, Melvin (Delphine) Corbett; four sisters: Virgie Lee Corbett-Johnson, Josephine (Vera) Corbett-Clark, Ella Mae (Willie) Corbett-Trapp, Gloria Corbett-Miller; two brothers in-law, Calray (Terrey) Suber and Dwight (Shelly) Suber; two sisters in-law, Rachel Y. Glover and Virginia S. Otis; all of Columbia, South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
