On Sunday, February 21, 2021, God in his infinite wisdom called his faithful servant Joletta home from labor to reward.
Joletta, the daughter of the late Curtis and Margie Dawkins and biological father, Richard (Ida) Pompey; maternal grandparents, the late Henry and Leatha Montgomery; paternal grandparents, the late Edger and Sarah Dawkins and Biological paternal grandparents, the late Edward and Mary Lee Pompey.
Joletta is a 1993 graduate of C.E Murray High School, Greeleyville, SC and a 1998 graduate of Benedict College with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Child & Family Development.
Joletta was employed with the SC Mentor Network Inc, as a Program Manager. She served as a coordinator for Babcock and Bunton Center Disability and Special Needs Board. She was also employed with the Richland/Lexington Five District in Special Services.
Joletta being reared in a Christian home, joined Pine Grove AME Church in Greeleyville, SC during her youth and served as a church school member, church school secretary, youth choir member and YPD. After completing college, Joletta remained in Columbia and joined the St. Peters Baptist Church in Irmo, SC, where she served as a member of the sanctuary choir, a member of the praise and worship team and a member of the young girls committee.
Joletta was a happy, vibrant young lady who always welcomed you with a beautiful smile. She had a heart of gold when it came to caring for her children and others. Joletta was a loving and caring daughter, mother, sister, aunt, niece, friend and a very proud grandmother of her only granddaughter, Zoelle.
Joletta was a loving and compassionate person. She loved to cook and fed many. She also gave so much of her time and talents to her family and the community.
Joletta leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, her mother, Margie Dawkins, Greeleyville, SC; daughter, Zhana Hayward; three sons, Joseph Hayward, Jr, Jonathan Eleazer and Pichajo Noles Hayward; one granddaughter, Zoelle ( her angel) all of Columbia, SC; three brothers, Curtis (Nikki) Dawkins, Greensboro, NC, Wendell Dawkins, Columbia, SC and Ronnie Pompey, Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Loretta (Charles) Ferrell, Rachel (Bernard) Montgomery both of Columbia, SC; a special caring and loving friend, Irvin Anderson; three additional good friends, Twyanna Gamble, Latiti Harvin and Pamela Burton; four maternal uncles, Jerry (Peggy) Montgomery, Wake Forest, NC, Robert Montgomery, Minneapolis, MN, James Montgomery, Deacatur, Alabama, Lee (Lessie) Montgomery, Greeleyville, SC; maternal aunts, Ruth Montgomery, Tory, NY, Carrie Bell Montgomery, Bronx, NY, Nancy (Matthew) Canty, Manning, SC, Shirley (Adger) Waiters, Greeleyville, SC; paternal uncle, Clifford (Justine) Dawkins) Kingstree, SC; paternal aunts, Pearlie Mae (Edward) Majors, Charlotte, NC, Sharon (Jeffery) Grant, Kingstree, SC, Ramona (Samuel) Graham, Kingstree, SC; biological paternal uncles, Cleveland (Ruth) Pompey, Philadelphia, PA, Edward Pompey, Manning, SC, Emmanuel (Jackie) Pompey and Melvin Pompey; biological paternal aunt, Martina (Franklin) Holmes, Myrtle Beach, SC; god brother, Dana Lamonte Hilton; god mother, Nancy Canty and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends whom will miss her dearly.
