Mr. Johnny J. Johnny was born May 6, 1935, in Kershaw County. He was the beloved son of the late Beatrice and Ora Lee McCoy Sr. On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Johnny departed this earthly life for eternal rest with God at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, SC.
“Bro” as he was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County. He loved children and showed his devotion to giving back as a softball coach for the Dixiana community. He was a committed and dedicated employee of Owens Steele, which later became CMS Steele. He worked determined and driven until his retirement.
Johnny loved the Lord. He was a God-fearing man. He talked about God to his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Johnny lived a full and happy life. He was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was very protective, always being a barrier and armor of protection for his children, grandchildren and family. He had a heart of gold. He believed in family first. Johnny was well known and respected in his community. He was always in good spirits. His loyalty and compassion were beyond what words could describe. Johnny was always willing to help anyone. His children and grandchildren were his heart. He was a true Carolina Panthers fan!
He was an avid fisherman finding joy in this hobby, loving to take on the waters for a good catch. He loved car shows, taking pride in his automobiles. He was always the head and provider for his family working hard. He was a very strong man! He was a praying man and forgiving man. To know him, was to love him.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Ora Lee McCoy Sr., his wife, Mable McCoy; children, Carolyn McCoy, Carole McCoy, Linda Stokes and Anderson Priester.
Johnny leaves to cherish precious memories: his loving and devoted children Johnnie McCoy, Eunice(James) McCoy, May McCoy, Willie Ann McCoy, Shirley McCoy, Gloria McCoy, Laura Jamison, Amanda (Jimmy) Middleton, Elizabeth Washington, Carol Wilson and Andrea (Peyton) Johnson; brothers, Tony McCoy, Andrew Wilson and Phillip Moore; uncles Willie McCoy and Oral Lee McCoy Jr.; a special friends, Elaine Johnson and Carolyn Robinson, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
