Bro. John Samuel Squire, Jr. was born July 15, 1959 in Columbia South Carolina to John Samuel Squire, Sr. and the late Leola Goodwin Squire. He entered his eternal life on November 16, 2021.
Bro. John grew up in Columbia SC and attended First Calvary Baptist Church and was baptized there at the age of twelve. He knew the Lord and did his best to live his life according to the Word. He graduated from W J. Keenan High School in 1977. He was a bus driver and a member of the Navy ROTC. He briefly attended Benedict College until deciding to work full-time at Springs Mills where he met his future bride, Hattie Mae Gibson. When the mill closed, he took training to obtain his CDL license and began driving trucks. He worked over twenty-six years for the Columbia State Newspaper and the City of Columbia. After retiring in the summer of 2020, he decided to return to work and was employed by a trucking firm, Covenant Logistics at the time of his passing. He enjoyed being on the road and driving his truck. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was a loving, caring, and affectionate gentle giant to all.
John dearly loved his wife, his sons and his family. He loved his jokes and trying to make you laugh or smile. Gospel and old-style music and old television shows were among some of his favorite pastimes. Until the time of his passing he would teach out to help anyone in their time of need.
