John O. Booth, Jr. Obituary

Senior Elder John Oscar Booth, Jr. (also known as Pete) was born on September 28, 1937, in Danville, Virginia, the second of seven children born to the late John Oscar Booth, Sr. and Nannie Mae Christine Williamson (Elder Willie Shanks).  He entered external rest on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at PRISMA Health Richland Hospital, in Columbia, South Carolina.

John attended the public schools of Pittsylvania County, Virginia.  He has been a devoted husband to his wife, Fannie Mae Booth, for 64 years. He worked for McGregor & Company, LLP - Columbia, South Carolina for over 50 years from which he retired in 2020 after his health declined.

John has been a member of the United House Prayer For All People since 1956.  He served on the Elders Board and served on the Banking Committee as the Pastor’s Financial Representative.  During his leisure time he enjoys watching live wrestling and western movies, traveling, reading and spending time with family. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death two sisters, Laura Wicks and Faye Ford.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Fannie Mae Booth; son, John O. Booth, III of Fayetteville, GA ; and four daughters, Angela (John H., Jr.) Jackson of Columbia, SC, Audrey Williamson of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Perry of Lexington, SC, and June Booth of Columbia, SC;  grandchildren, Keyotta Jackson, John H. (Briana) Jackson, III, Asia Perry, Kentrell Perry, Shaquelle Booth, Cierra Steele, Rashida Williamson, and Jontae Booth; great-grandchildren, Breanna Peters, Xzavier Alexander, Zion Perry, Jayce Jackson, and Julian Jackson; step-grandchildren, Lea Vandiver, Mykel and Alexis Williamson; brother, Bobby Booth; sisters, Shirley Brown, Dottie Hall, and Marie Smith all of Columbia, SC; along with a host of nephews, nieces, and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom are sadden by his departure, but rejoice that he is now with the Lord.
