John Larry Jennings Sr., age 75 of Columbia, South Carolina, was born on September 6, 1950, in Columbia, South Carolina the son of the late Oriter Jennings Sr. and Frankie Mae Swinton. He passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina.
He spent his life rooted in the Columbia community, where he was known to those around him as a man of quiet strength and character. John dedicated 26 years of service until he retired to Richland School District One, where he worked faithfully and took pride in supporting the community through his work.
He was also a devoted member of the United House of Prayer for All People for over 60 years, where his faith and commitment were evident throughout his life. John was also a devoted husband and was married for 51 years to his wife, Anna with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership and family.
In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in by two sisters, Catherine Turnipseed and Sarah Simmons; six brothers, Oriter Jennings Jr., James Jennings, Charles Jennings, Calvin Jennings, Gary Lee Jennings, and Elijah Jennings.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, Anna Jennings; four children, Aciana (Roddie) Adams, Wanda (Frankie) Brown, Florence Jennings, and John (Terrence) Jennings Jr., all of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Tiyona Felder, Darrell Felder Jr, Brandisha Adams, Terrell Jennings-Felder, Aeronia Adams, and KaDaisa Sumter-Jennings; and three great grandchildren: Amoura Felder, Justin Robinson Jr, and Yahari Jennings, all of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters, Earlene Fuller, and Barbra Craft; one brother, Leonard (Vivian) Jennings, all of Columbia, South Carolina; sisters in-law, Maragret Mckinstry of Winnsboro, South Carolina, and Rosa Brown from Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends.
John's life touched so many, and his memory will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
