Joe Sims, Jr.

Mr. Joe Sims, Jr was born in Lee County on June 19, 1947 to the Late Joe Sims, Sr. and Callin Sims.  He departed this life to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at his daughters’ house in Columbia, SC.

Joe was a master brick mason and built many buildings throughout the Columbia and surrounding areas.  A building structure in particular is the Clock Tower located on Sumter Street, across from PRISMA Baptist Hospital.  The Clock Tower was one of Joes finest masterpiece.   Joe also was an avid outdoorsman and he loved hunting and fishing.

Joe was married to the late Ernestine Sims.  They shared a blissful 54 years of marriage.

Joe was a man of strong faith and finished his journey strong.  He was a member of Refuge Temple Church where he was baptized and served faithfully.

Joe was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Ernestine Sims and one child, Dacus Sims.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are his children, Erskine Sims and Joset (Victor) Culbreath; a brother, Jhon (Martha) Sims of Hopkins SC; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends all who will honor his memories.
