Jimmie Lee Jones was born April 9, 1954, in Sumter, South Carolina, the eighth child born to the late John Adam Jones and Annie Lou Jones. He entered eternal life on Monday, 23, 2026.
He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County, South Carolina, where he laid the foundation for his life, earning his high school diploma.
At the young age of 17, Jimmie answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. During his 23-year military career, he served as a recruiter and an instructor. Jimmie earned an associate degree and ultimately achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. His service stands as a testament to his strength and leadership.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his brothers, John Jones Jr. and Joseph Jones, and his sisters, Ophelia Glover and Annie Mae McKnight.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family to include his son, James (Tabitha) Amos of Sumter, South Carolina; stepson, Alvina (Shelby) Julaton of Oahu, Hawaii; granddaughters, Jade and Jasmine Amos (Columbia, SC); grandsons, Sgt. Cody (Sharice) Dany (US ARMY) (Orangeburg, SC) and Spec. Hunter Ferebee FT. Stewart, GA (US Army); siblings, Ola Mae Perry of Sumter, South Carolina, Adam Jones (Rachel) of Sumter, South Carolina, Flora Frances (Dwight) Nelson of Sumter, South Carolina, Inell (Rafael) Jimenez of Sumter, South Carolina, Leo (Lottie) Jones of Sumter, South Carolina, and Jacob (Bernice) Jones of Sumter, South Carolina; and his sister-in-law, Theola Jones of Sumter, South Carolina.. and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
