Mother Janie M. Waldo, 89, was born on May 17, 1935, in Orangeburg County, in North, SC. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Frankie Miller. Janie transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at her home, in Columbia, South Carolina. During her transitioning, she sung praises to God.
Janie attended public schools in North, SC, Orangeburg County. She relocated to Columbia, SC where she met the love of her life, Wiley (Newt) Waldo.
She was united in the bonds of Holy Matrimony with Wiley Waldo and spent fifty-four wonderful years with her soul mate, who preceded her in death. This union was blessed with three children, who preceded her in death, Faith Celes Waldo who passed after birth, Naomi Dale Waldo and Frankie L Miller, Sr.
Mother Waldo love for her family was depicted by the great meals she prepared, and the time spent with them.
She was a loyal and faithful member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Columbia, SC for over sixty plus years. There were times she was not feeling her best, but she would call someone to pick her up for church. Mother Waldo retained her faith in Jesus through her life and often encouraged others to keep the faith and trust in the Lord. She would always let you know that God had been good to her. She often read and believed in God’s Holy Word. Janie served as President of the Jubilee Choir, member of the health ministry, missionary ministry and constitution committee. She was a nanny, housekeeper and friend to the community.
We, the family, friends, and others will cherish the memories that Mother Janie M. Waldo has left with us.
She leaves to cherish her memories two grandsons, Frankie L. Miller, Jr. of River Rouge, MI; Mark A. Miller of Columbia, South Carolina, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, who will miss her dearly, but rejoice that she’s now resting with the Lord.
