James Young was born February 26, 1948, in Winnsboro, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Ernest Young Jr., and Sarah Ellison Young. He departed this earthly life on Monday, November 3, 2025, at his residence in Blythewood, South Carolina.
James attended the public schools of Fairfield County where he graduated from Fairfield High School in the Class of 1966. After graduating, he joined the United States Army proudly serving until 1970. After receiving an Honorable Discharge and returning to Civilian Life he worked as machinist from which he retired in 2009, after many years of dedicated service.
James enjoyed the outdoors, and you could often find him in the yard. He also had a passion for nice cars and enjoyed going to car shows. He was a handyman or “Jack of All Trades” and he could fix or build about anything.
Mr. Young a man of faith, was a member of The United House of Prayer for All People in Winnsboro, South Carolina. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who has left a legacy of love to all.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Davie, Ulysses, Willie, and Eddie Young.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Edna S. Young of the home; adoring daughter, Candice Carter of Blythewood, SC; caring son, Kirby (Tawana) Carter of Columbia, SC; precious grandchildren, Christian Evans, Kameron Carter, Tatianna Martin, and Josh Carter; caring brothers and sisters-in-law; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
