Mr. James Lee Billups was born December 10, 1962, in Clarendon County, the beloved son of the late Roosevelt and Mary Billups. On Thursday, March 9, 2023, God, who is keenly aware when one of His children has grown tired of this earthly life and guided his soul to rest.
“Ditty” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County School District One where he graduated from Scotts Branch High School. At the age of 18, James enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably for three (3) years. He was employed with Sean’s Poultry Farm in Summerton, South Carolina.
Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew him.
Those who are cherishing “Ditty’s” fond and precious memories are his son, Antoine Terrell Nicholson of Brooklyn, New York; four sisters, Christine Taylor of Sumter, South Carolina; Rosa Aiken of Pinewood, South Carolina; Sybie Billups of Brooklyn, New York; and Mary Ann Billups of Sumter, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Aiken of Brooklyn, New York; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
