Isaac Nathan, Jr. Obituary

Isaac Nathan, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” was born on January 26, 1968, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Fannie Pressley-Nathan and the late Isaac “Jip” Nathan Sr. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Sumter, South Carolina.

Isaac was educated in the Richland County Public School System and went on to live a life full of hard work, laughter, and deep connections.

Junior’s first job was as a bagger at Bi-Lo, a role he took great pride in. It allowed him to buy his very first car for just $300. He later worked at Sunburg Boats before launching into a nearly three-decade career in trucking. A driven and ambitious man, he eventually started his own business, “Nathan Transport,” where he combined his work ethic with a passion for the open road. Behind the wheel, he answered to “Rainman,” a name that now carries a quiet comfort for those who keep his memory alive.

Junior was a man whose laughter could brighten any room and whose warm hugs were a comfort to everyone lucky enough to receive one. His quick wit, big heart, and boundless generosity made even the smallest moments feel special. He found peace in fishing and had a deep connection to the water, often casting lines not just into lakes and rivers, but into the hearts of those around him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac “Jip” Nathan Sr., and his brother, Ronald Nathan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Nathan (Sumter, SC); his mother, Fannie Pressley-Nathan (Columbia, SC); his children, Rondell Nathan, Jonah Nathan, both of (Hopkins, SC), and Amani “Sean” Nathan (Harrisburg, PA); three granddaughters,  Logan Nathan, Aliyah Nathan (Rondell), and Kaelani Nathan (Jonah); his sister, Peggy Nathan;  brother, James Myers, both of Columbia, SC; nieces, Adriona Nathan and Shira Nathan; great-nieces, Kamilla and Kallei (Adriona); and great-nephews, Jayden and Jamari Nathan (Shira). He also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will forever remember his jokes, his kindness, and his vibrant spirit.

Junior’s legacy is one of joy, love, and laughter. He brought light into ordinary days, strength into hard times, and stories into every gathering. May his soul rest in calm waters, and may his memory continue to bring smiles for years to come.
