Heyward Rodell Eskew was born on June 22, 1960, in Richland County, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Yvonne Eskew, and the grandson of the late Willie and Evelyn Eskew.
Heyward entered eternal rest on Friday, April 30, 2026, at PRISMA Health Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Meredith Geiger, with whom he shared a beautiful love, a life of devotion, and the births of two sons.
Heyward joined the Saint Paul AME Church in his younger years, and into his adult Life. He also attended Saint Paul Baptist Church in Lexington, SC, into his married life.
Brother Heyward was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Heyward was a faithful Servant, who loved the Lord.
“Banky,” as he was affectionately called was educated in the public schools of Richland/Lexington County where he attended Irmo High School. He later became employed with the Richland/Lexington Five School District where he was employed at Irmo High School as Facility Shift Supervisor from which he retired after 38 years of dedicated service.
Heyward was a loyal fan to the Dallas Cowboys Football Team. He also enjoyed fishing and he loved being around his family and friends.
Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who love and knew him and whose lives he so lovingly touched.
In addition to his mother and grandparents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Eskew.
Those cherishing fond and precious memories of Heyward are his loving and devoted wife, Meredith G. Eskew of the home; sons, Drew Eskew and Tray Eskew, both of Irmo, SC; eight grandchildren, Jamel Humphries of Irmo, SC; Cayla Eskew, Drew and AAliyah Eskew, all of Columbia, SC; Caleisia Humphries, Amyiah, Aria, and Jayden Eskew, all of Greenville, SC; three brothers, John (Cynthia) Eskew Sr., Napolean Eskew, and Malcolm (Edwina) Eskew, all Columbia, SC; two uncles, James (Roberta) Eskew of Irmo, SC, and John (Rev.
