Henry Bracey Sumter, II Obituary

Henry Bracey Sumter was born February 18, 1979, in Columbia, South Carolina.  He was the youngest son born to the late Henry Bracey Sr., and Deloris S. Reardon, and the stepson of Terry Reardon. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at his residence in Columbia, South Carolina.

Henry affectionately known as “Loom”, was educated in the public schools of Richland County.  After graduating, he was employed with Columbia Farms.  He was then employed with Pops (Shell) Gas Station where he worked as manager for a number of years.  He later found his niche in life while working security for several establishments.  He fell in love with the work and was employed in security services until his health declined.

Loom was the life of the party.  You knew when he entered a room because of his charisma and his love for people.  He was often loud, but that was Loom.  Everyone knew that he did not mind saying what was on his mind. He was also funny, and he knew how to put a smile on your face.  He enjoyed playing cards, listening to loud music, and watching sports.  He enjoyed basketball which was his favorite sport, but he also enjoyed football and the Carolina Panthers were his favorite team.  Henry had a “BIG HEART,” and he shared that love with his family and friends, especially his children.  Though he is no longer physically with us, Loom will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Sumter was also preceded in death by three brothers, Michael (Daffy) Sumter, Henry, Jr., and Kenneth Bracey; his grandmothers, Francis Simon and Ella Bracey; uncles, James & Freddie; and his aunts, Sally, Mary, Ada and Dorothy.

Those who will forever cherish fond and precious memories of Henry are his loving wife, Tonna R. Sumter; his loving children, Kiava, Dominick, Myeisha, Isaiah and Micah; granddaughter, Brooklyn  Alston; caring brothers, Howard and Ernest Bracey; loving sisters, Patricia Sumter, Quilette and Beverly Bracey; his caring stepfather, Terry Reardon;  caring parents-in-law, Charlton and Jennifer McDougal; uncle, Robert Sumter; aunts, Vernell, Sarah & Lily; special niece and nephew, Te’Keina and Mattrell Fields; a special friend, Isaac Lincoln; a host of other loving nephews, nieces caring relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
