Henry Howell, Jr. was born August 30, 1941, in St. Matthews, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Henry and Dora Jackson Howell. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Henry was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County, South Carolina, relocating to Columbia, South Carolina, in the late 1960’s.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Dorothy Smith on October, 26, 1964, a union that was blessed with sixty-one (61) years of love and devotion, and the births of four (4) sons.
Henry was employed as a truck driver with The City of Columbia, from which he retired after thirty-four (34) years of service. After retiring he enjoyed cleaning and maintaining his yard.
Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew him.
Henry leaves to cherish fond and precious memories to his loving wife, Dorothy Smith Howell; three sons, David (Shandale) Howell, Mark Howell and Michael (Pam) Howell; six (6) grandchildren; three (3) great-grandchildren; five sisters, Sally Pelzer of St. Matthews, SC, Dora Ginyard, Willidean Howell, both of Orangeburg, SC, Diane Kroll of Stoughton, MA; and Nancy (Eli) Marrero of Boston, MA; two brothers, James Earl Howell of East Orange, NJ, and Willie James Howell of Orangeburg, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives all of whom will dearly miss him.
