Mr. Henry Breeland, Jr. was born March 20, 1937, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late Carrie Bell Jackson. He departed this earthly life for eternal life with the Lord on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Henry was educated in the public school of Richland County School District One where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was employed with The University of South Carolina and Richland School District One from which he retired in June of 1996 after thirty-one years of dedicated service.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Patricia Walls. Their union was blessed with love, devotion to each other, and a beautiful family.
He was a long-time member of Gilbert Memorial Baptist Church before joining and becoming a dedicated and faithful member of First Nazareth Baptist Church. Henry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, whose favorite pastime was fishing. He will be missed by all those who loved and knew him.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracey Garvin; sister, Gloria Elliot; and brother, Vernon Jackson.
Henry is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Walls Breeland of the home; his children, Glenda (Henry) Smith, Linda (Kyle) Ramsey, Bernard Breeland, LaQanya Breeland (Henry called her “Top”), Calvin (Dawn) Breeland, Therald (Carolyn) Breeland, Patrick (Janie) Simmons, all of Columbia, South Carolina; and Stacey (CoCo) Garvin of Charlotte, North Carolina; twenty-six (26) grandchildren; thirty-five (35) great-grandchildren; and three (3) great-great grandchildren; his brother, Thomas (Betty) Jackson; four (4) sisters, Lucy (Lyles) Williams, Jeanette Haskell, and Elder Shirley Ellison, Mary Williams, all of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss him, but rejoice that he is now resting with the Lord.
