Mother Hattie Lee Green, 77, began her life on April 18, 1947, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of the late Albert and Edna Payne Thompson. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina.
Hattie Lee was educated in the public school system of Richland County, SC. She retired as a housekeeper having worked for Dr. Baker (Melinda) Allen and his family for many years. The Allen family considered Hattie as another member of their family.
Hattie Lee married her one true love, Thomas Lee Green, on April 22, 1967, in Columbia, South Carolina. This union was blessed with the births of three loving children.
Hattie Lee was a member of Mustard Seed Christian Center under the leadership of Reverend Henry L. Wolfe, where she attended services faithfully and regularly until her health declined.
In addition to her parents, Hattie Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Lee Green, two sisters, Jessie Mae Thompson and Thomasina Jennings; one niece, Rosemary T. Richardson; and one granddaughter, Felisha Shannon.
Those left to cherish her memory are two loving and devoted daughters, Kenyatta (Nelson Newbill) and Ashley (Ryan Morris) Green; one caring son, Thomas Lee (Nadia) Thompson; one special granddaughter reared in the home as a daughter, Tammie Thompson; grandchildren, Kimberly and Anthony Green, Brandon and Davon Joyner, Naneka Perry, Quanisha Shannon, Desiree, Jamie, and Thomas Thompson, Jr., Jamaica, Dazania, and Taquillya Green; two sisters, Pauline Brown of Columbia, SC and Alberta Gross of Mesa, Arizona; two brothers-in-law, George and Michael Green; and a host of loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends, all of whom will dearly miss her.
