Gwendolyn Elaine Johnson was born November 13, 1960, in Abbeville, South Carolina, the beloved daughter of Mildred Evelyn Baldwin Johnson and the late Jesse Earl Johnson. She peacefully entered her heavenly home on Friday, July 18, 2025, at PRISMA Health Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
Gwendolyn graduated from McCormick High School in the Class of 1978. She then continued to further her education at Piedmont Technical College and Lander University.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Holy Spring Baptist Church. She later attended Laura Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in several roles, Including Sunday School Secretary, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Church Clerk.
Gwendolyn was employed at McCormick Family Practice for over 25 years. During her time there she was dearly loved by her coworkers and patients, who will always remember her bright smile and bubbly spirit. Though she is no longer physically with us, she has left a legacy of love, devotion, kindness, and friendship to all those who loved and knew her.
Gwendolyn is lovingly survived by her precious daughter, Krystal Cartledge of the home; her beloved mother, Evelyn Johnson of McCormick SC; loving sister, Janet (Rodney) Barnes of Rock Hill, SC; stepson, Tyranna Martin of Greenwood, SC. Gwendolyn's memory will be forever cherished by her favorite nephews, Caleb Barnes and Kendall Barnes, both of Rock Hill, SC; godchildren, Syvol (Carl) Stout of Columbia, SC, and Na' Jarvis Jones of Greenville, SC, Wesley Franklin of Des Moines, IA; her special nieces, Tanika (Donnie) Maston and Tierra Freeman both of McCormick SC; her dear friends, Gwen (Ricky) Chiles and Nellie (Nate) Jones, Dr. Angela (Thaddeus) Franklin; along with host of uncles, aunts, church family, CHC Work Family and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
