Gwendolyn Hammond born on May 5, 1954, to the late Mary Phillips Hammond and Julius Hammond, Jr. She transitioned from this life on May 25, 2023 at Richland Heart Center.
She graduated from Sumter High in 1972. She then moved to New York and worked until her health failed and moved back to Columbia, South Carolina. She joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was the member of the Sanctuary Choir, Missionary, Sickle Cell Foundation, and part of In Prenence Ministry. In 2022, she joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church until her timely death.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Stanley Hammond, and Tyrone Hammond; two sisters, Winnester Davis, and Julia Hammond.
She leaves to cherish, her sister, Sandra (Tubal); brother, Vernon Hammond; two nephews, Aaron Davis, and Stafford Davis; niece, Tanea Hammond; other relatives and friends.
