Goldie Marie Gantt Gadsden was born October 6, 1943, in Pendelton, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late William Gantt and Mildred V. Williams. She completed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Raeford, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
Goldie attended and was educated in the public schools of Anderson County. Upon graduation from high school, she continued her education at Benedict College and Midlands Technical College where she received her certification in Nursing. During her career, she worked at Richland Memorial Hospital, Manor Care and Eau Claire Medical Center. She retired after more than 30 years in the nursing field.
Mrs. Gadsden was a dedicated member of Refuge Temple Church of God In Christ. During her tenure she served in many capacities including on the Mother’s Board. She loved to play the piano as well as reading Psalm.
Mother Goldie most enjoyed spending time with family and friends; Thanksgiving was her favorite time of the year, and she would start planning the festive family event in June or July of every year; however, the menu would always remain the same. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all who loved and knew her.
Those who will forever cherish Mother Goldie’s fond and precious memories are her husband, Teddie Gadsden; her four loving children, Chan (Anthony) Knightner, Terry (Darrel) Wright, Robert (Karen) Sanders and Raquel Sanders; caring brothers, William (Doreen) Gantt, Prince (Earnestine) Gantt, Benjamin (Andre) Watts, Antonio (Mary) Watts, Norman (Thomasina) Watts and Jeffery Harris, her caring sisters, Gwendolyn Gantt-Walker and Ruth Hymes; thirteen (13) grandchildren; fifteen (15) great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom are sadden by her departure, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
