Gloria M. Joyner was born on March 27, 1952, to Dorothy Davis, and was adopted by Margaret Middleton in Columbia, S.C. Gloria departed this life on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Richland Memoria Hospital.
Gloria received her education in Richland County Public Schools. She was a proud 1970 graduate of C.A. Johnson High School and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Benefict College. She was employed by the State of South Carolina and retired from C.M. Tucker Nurse Care Center. She was loving with a contagious laugh. She had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and siblings. Gloria was a kind and gentle spirit who always did everything she could to support her loved ones. She never left a conversation without using a sweet pet name and stating that she loved you. A beautiful limb has fallen from our family tree as we all remember the best of times with her. She will truly be missed.
Gloria was proceeded in death by her devoted husband Cleveland Jerome Joyner, her mothers Dorothy Davis and Margaret Middleton, Her brothers Alvin and Zack Davis, and her sisters, Lucretia Davis and Barbara Mitchell.
She is survived by her sons, Sharif A. Naeemmusiddiq (Kendall), Arkey Jerome Joyner (Rome), Travarius Jeron Joyner (Lorraine), Cleveland Joyner III.(Kymara), Martell Davis, and one daughter, Joy C. Mcclendon. Her grandchildren, Torrezz M. Middleton, Javon C. Mcclendon, Sharia A. Naeemmusiddiq, Sharif A. Naeemmusiddiq, Tymeir Jeron Joyner, Seriniti Bridges and Makyeli Bridges, David Martell Davis Jr, Alaynah Stratford, Jada Joyner, Harley Joyner, Ivory James, Aikia Jerome Joyner II. She is also survived by her sisters Linda Hudson and Robbie Hilton and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
