Gloria Jean Drayton

Gloria Jean Johnson Drayton was born July 27, 1960 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She was born to the late Gedell Johnson, Sr and Louise Stroman-Johnson. A limb fell from the tree on October 13, 2021 in Columbia, SC.

Gloria was educated in Orangeburg and Columbia. She attended Orangeburg County School as well as Eau Claire High School. “Glo”, as she was called, was a hard-working woman who always kept her hands busy. Gloria owned and operated her Janitorial business. Later in life, she became a care provider for people of all colors and professions. The care that she showed her clients was always recognized with the highest praise.

LeRoy Drayton took Gloria Johnson to be his bride on August 2, 1979. This union has lasted for 42 years. Roy loved Gloria and Gloria loved Roy. Glo also attended Spires Chapel Baptist Church located in Cope, South Carolina.

Glo loved a garden. She would plant anything, but she loved growing fruits and veggies. That green thumb has fed many people. She always had a giving heart. Gloria took care of MacGyver as she was known to fix a car, work on the roof, plant a garden, babysit, etc. Gloria’s love of people gave her energy as well as the babies providing super energy.

She leaves to cherish her memories, Leroy Drayton of Columbia, SC; a daughter, Teresa Drayton of Elgin, SC; son, LeRoy Drayton, Jr of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Naky’Ja Dawkins; a brother, Gedell Johnson, Jr of North SC; sister, Sylvia Jamison-Johnson of Columbia ,SC; baby brother, Randy Johnson of Columbia, SC; aunt, Albertha Polite of Cope, SC’ uncle, Leonard Johnson of Columbia, SC; sister-in law, Lovella (Jeffery) Hill of Georgia; sister-in laws, Lucille Drayton of and Bobbie Drayton of Orangeburg, SC ; brother-in laws,  David (Frances) Drayton of Orangeburg, SC and Albert Drayton of Columbia, SC and a host of devoted nephews, nieces and cousins whom will miss her dearly
