Gloria Williams Myers Alston was born to Leroy and Mattie Lee Reed Williams on June 13, 1947 in Richland County, Columbia, SC. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 21, 2021.
She attended Ridgewood Elementary School, W.A. Perry Middle School and graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in 1965. She attended Midlands Technical College. It was her desire to be a legal secretary. She was employed with the South Carolina State Library, Richland County Upper Township Magistrate and Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where she retired in 2009.
She was married to the late Willie Larry Myers, Sr and to that union, three children were born, Willie Larry Myers, Jr, Kimone Lanette Myers and Kevin Andre’ Myers. She later married Henry Alston on August 3, 1995.
She was a member of Ridgewood Missionary Baptist Church since childhood and was a member of the Senior Musical Choir until her death. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and singing.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Larry Myers, Sr; parents, Leroy and Mattie Williams; sister, Lenora Williams and a son, Kevin Andre’ Myers.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Alston; son, Willie (Debra) L. Myers, Jr; daughter, Kimone (Walter) Smith; stepdaughters, Chaka (Sekoi) Jenkins, Kellie (Curtis) Boyd and Kionna Alston; sisters, Deborah W. Jones, Miriam W. Tarver, Rubye W. Finch; brother, Pastor Leroy (Betty) Williams, Jr; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends whom will miss her dearly.
