Glenda Gillie Obituary
Mrs. Glenda “GG” Gillie, daughter of the late Elizabeth Sumrall and Henry Middleton, was born October 27, 1952 in Columbia, South Carolina. She also had a loving step-father Nathaniel Sumrall (Deceased).
Glenda attended the public schools of Richland County. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined New Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Glenda was united in holy matrimony to Bennie Franklin Gillie, Sr. in May of 1972. Bennie preceded her in death in 1977.
Glenda worked history included her working at the historic Columbia, SC restaurant, S&S Cafeteria. She loved serving and helping people.
Glenda was predeceased by her sister, Sheila Sumrall; her brothers, Gregory “White” Sumrall, Stanford “Ollie Ford” Sumrall and Ira “Bruce” Sumrall.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Kim Gillie, Keith Gillie (Shauna), Bennie Gillie Jr., and Keota Gillie all of Columbia, SC; three sisters and one brother: Stephanie “Nanny” Wilson (Oscar Wilson-Deceased), Gail “Marlene” Praylow (David), Owedia “Faye” Sumrall, Nathaniel “Mann” Sumrall; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
