Mrs. Freida Ann Tucker-Mercado “Cowgirl” was born December 19, 1954, in Irmo, SC, the daughter of the late Freddie Lee and Isabell Tucker. Freida departed this earthly life on Monday, April 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.
Freida attended Rich/Lex Public Schools.
Freida grew up in the church attending Macedonia Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Freida loved life, lived life, and cared for her family and friends. Freida was a die heart Cowboys Fan, who didn’t indulge in anyone talking bad about her cowboys. She was never one to hold her tongue and would always tell you how she felt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Saturnino Mercado, Sr.; her baby boy, Marco Mercado; grandson, Saturnino Williams; brothers, Charlie Lee, and Todd Tucker; four sisters, Ernestine, Deborah, Blondell, and Mary Alice; along with a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Althea (Roy) Tucker, Kindra Tucker, Makisha Mercado, and Saturnino Mercado; her grandchildren, Lakendra, Toddraniqua, Jerrod, Patalion, Freida Tucker, Timothy Williams, Vermeka, Domonique, Joseph Briggs, Marco, Jr., Aiden Mercado, Mariana, Mariah, Omarion Mercado, and Lauryn Algood; two sisters, Joyce Tucker, and Glenda Tucker Kirkland; two brothers, Herman (Bessie) Tucker, and Freddie (Helen) Tucker, Jr.; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Her beautiful physical presence is no longer with us, yet her memory will live on in our hearts and the minds of all who were fortunate to have known her.
