Evangelist Vivette Maria Middleton Johnson Obituary

Evangelist Vivette Maria Middleton Johnson was born December 16, 1962, the beloved daughter of the late Henry Middleton, Sr., and Mrs. Eliza Favor Middleton. She departed this earthly life for eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

Vivette was a 1980 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. She continued her education at Rice College in 1982, then graduated in 1988 from Midlands Technical College with a certification in Phlebotomy. In 1989 she received a certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Nurses Incorporated, USC. In March 2010, she successfully updated her Health Profession with Midlands Technical College. She graduated from Limestone College with a (BSW) Bachelor of Social Work degree.

Evangelist Johnson’s Christian training began at home with her parents. At a young age, she joined Heyward AME Church, under the leadership of Rev. Robert L. McCants, Presiding Elder of the Sumter District, and New Life Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. M.E. James of Cayce.

Evangelist Johnson was a proactive member and a licentiate, since 2002 at Greater St. Paul AME Church, under the leadership of Rev. Vernon Dixon. She received an Evangelistic License on January 4, 2010 by Elder Rev. Sandy W. Drayton in the Seventh Episcopal District, African Methodist Episcopal Church of the Columbia District. On August 17, 2012, Vivette Johnson was ordained under the tutelage of Apostle Jerry Mallory of Kingdom Life Builders International Ministries of Valrico, Florida as an Evangelist.

In 2014, Evangelist Johnson joined Kingdom Builders Church under the leadership of late Pastor Joseph English of Columbia. She continued to serve under the leadership of Pastor Marvin
P. Jackson, Sr and Reverend Janice K. English, Pastor Emeritus. Evangelist Johnson did all of this while maintaining her fellowship with Kingdom Covenant Churches under the leadership of Apostle Jerry Mallory.

Evangelist Johnson was a founding member of the Lord’s Ladies and Daughters of Destiny International Inc. She was the Vice President of the Counseling Department, Director of Vacation Bible School, the Women’s Homeless Shelter, the Food and Clothing Bank Ministry and Church School Teacher.

Evangelist Johnson was a member of Greater St. Paul Ministerial staff, where she was the Director of the Singles Ministry, Director of the Youth Choir, Church School, and Women’s Bible School Teacher. She was also a member of the Columbia District Conference of South Carolina Women in Ministry, GSP Intercessory Team and Women’s Missionary Society.

Evangelist Johnson was known as a Mighty Woman of God who desired to skillfully teach and preach the Word of God with loving expressions of truth in all things.

Her favorite Scripture is Ephesians 4:11-13 “And He gave some, apostle; and prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Master Caleb E. Middleton; granddaughter, Joy L. Johnson; and spiritual daughter, Celestine Butler.

Vivette is lovingly survived by her two loving daughters, Rev. Dr. Toni Johnson, and Mrs. Alexzandrea Johnson Kinlaw (Mother’s Care Giver); spiritual daughter, MyKala A. Atchison; grandchildren, Cyril L. Johnson, Caleb L. Johnson and Joshua A. Johnson, Paisley E. Kinlaw and Piper H. Kinlaw; and her caring brother, Henry Middleton, Jr.   of South Carolina; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord.
