Eugene Norman Benjamin, Sr.

Eugene Norman Benjamin Sr. was born on June 9, 1931 in Bishopville, SC to Janie (Williams) and Edward Lee Benjamin Sr. He went to school in Lee County. He was married to Mary Benjamin (Murphy) on July 6, 1950. He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 36 years of service. He also worked at the Veterans Hospital and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Reid Chapel A.M.E. Church, and an affiliated member or Reeder Point A.M.E. He was a devoted Trustee, and a member of the ‘Sons of Allen’ organization.

Eugene Benjamin is preceded in death by his parents, Janie and Edward Benjamin Sr. and brother Edward Benjamin Jr.

Eugene is survived by his wife Mary, 7 children: Dora Jones, Janie Williams (James Williams), Eugene Benjamin Jr. (Gwenevere Benjamin), Cynthia Benjamin, Marilyn Bennett, Mary Benjamin, Austin Benjamin, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
