Mrs. Estheree Glymph Anderson was born in Newberry, South Carolina on April 6, 1932, the daughter of late Adam Glymph, Sr., and Sarah Goree Glymph. She peacefully transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Mrs. Anderson was educated in Newberry County Schools, and graduated from Pope Cosmetology Institute, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Prior to moving to Columbia, she was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Newberry, South Carolina. Upon relocating to Columbia, she was a faithful member of Saint John Baptist Church for over 65 years. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Hospitality Committee that served families and friends after funerals, for repast. She was a passionate server of the food and went to great lengths to ensure that every meal was perfect for grieving families. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Pauline Russell Missionary Circle where she served as treasurer for several years as well as actively involved in Feeding the Hopeful. She was part of the Homeless Committee, and belonged to the Wallace, Rodgers, Worthy, Counts Family Ministry Group at Saint John Baptist Church. There was seldom a Sunday that her face was not seen among the Congregation.
Her career stemmed from working at National Linen, gift wrapping at Tapps Department store part-time, being a hair stylist, and eventually opening her own shop named Classic Beauty Shop. She spent her final career years as a hair stylist for the state of South Carolina. She was an active member of her local neighborhood watch and was always available to help a neighbor in need.
In addition to her parents; her husband, SGT. Anderson; her daughter, Janette Harriford; three brothers, Adam Glymph, Jr., Freddie Glymph, James Albert Glymph, and one sister, Mary Helen Byrd, went home to be with the Lord before her death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Mrs. Janice A. (Donald) Myers, and Dr. Joyce A. (Raymond) Buxton; three sisters, Evelyn Marshall, Nora Sims, and Sarah (Henry) Glasgow; one brother, Jerome (Dorthy) Glymph; five grandchildren, Amanda Myers, Matthew Myers, Caitlin Harriford, Scott Harriford, and Elliott Tolbert; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, and friends whom she loved dearly.
