Essie Mae Josey Brisbon was born June 7, 1947, to the late Charlie and Ada Laboo Josey. On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Essie transitioned to her new eternal home. Because she could not stay any longer, so God said, “Come on my child and follow me.”
Essie attended the public schools of Lee County. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Tyson Brisbon, and to their union three children were born, Jeanette, Eva Mae and Martha, and stepdaughter, Tyson.
Essie was a housewife who loved to cook and clean houses. She loved her family dearly and always wanted to get together with her family and have an enjoyable time, cooking, eating, and fellowshipping.
After she and Tyson were married, Essie joined Elizabeth Baptist Church where she served faithfully until she went home to be with the Lord. Though she is no longer physically with us, her loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those who loved and knew her.
In addition to her parents, and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Eva Mae Brisbon; father and mother-in-law, Aaron and Ezra Brisbon; sisters, Jessie Mae Simon, Sue Bell Hickmon and Clairce Charles.
Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Essie are her loving daughters, Jeanette Bradley, Martha Century, and Tyson Brisbon; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Ada Bell Jenkins, Blanche Frazier and Mary Lou Fuller; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
Sleep on Essie and take your rest,
we all loved you, but God loved you best!
