Ernest Trapp was born on April 17, 1935 to the late Mr. Hampton and Annie Myers Bright and was raised by Mr. Heyward and Mammie Bright Trapp in Columbia, SC. He departed this earthly life on July 11, 2021.
He was educated at the Richland County public school system and attended C.A. Johnson High School. Following high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Army.
Throughout his life he worked for the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers Affiliated with AFL-CIO by Local Union No 455 New York, New York, July 20, 1957 and the United States Postal Service in New York, New York.
He was married to Mrs. Lula Mae Trapp.
Ernest was heavily involved in the church as he was a member of the Sr. Jubilee Choir, regularly attended Sunday School and traveled with the choirs during revival season. He enjoyed gardening, going to the community recreational center, going the to the neighborhood baseball games, senior minister as well as hosting the neighborhood bible study at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ernest Trapp, Jr; a brother, Pervis Bright; sisters, Wilhelmina Johnson, LeDonia Hutchinson and Elouise Anderson.
He leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Lula Mae Trapp; children, Ernestine Trapp, Levarn Trapp-Ramsey, Ramona Trapp and Bernard Trapp; grandchildren, Everett Ramsey, Darryl Trapp, Kevin Green, Christopher Trapp, Rhonda Trapp, Vicki Trapp; great-grandchildren, Cashanna Mae Snipes, Lavelle Ramsey, , Gideon Trapp, Kasiem Cochran, Ciara Cochran, and Joshua Ramon Hermonstyne-Trapp; a sister, Francia Thompson and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends whom will miss him dearly.
