Son of Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Dorothy Surginer, Ernest George Surginer, 69, of Columbia was born December 4, 1950, and entered into eternal peace on June 21, 2020. “Poochie” and “Surg” as he was affectionately known, joined Union Baptist Church at an early age. Poochie knew and loved the goodness of the LORD.
Ultimate game changer, Poochie was a fierce competitor and outstanding high school running back. Upon his 1969 graduation from Booker T. Washington High School, Poochie received several certifications including Small Engine Repair Specialist.
Romance in the air as November 14, 1975, Poochie was blessed to marry his love Mrs. Loretta Murray-Surginer. The proudest day of their lives was August 8, 1980, as they joyfully welcomed their son, Brandon Jermaine Surginer.
Getting ready for retirement! After over thirty years of working in various departments, “Surg” retired from Allied Chemical/Fibers and Honeywell. An entertainer at heart! “Surg” welcomed everyone!! He was a serious and dedicated gardener and, Poochie truly thought he was THE GRILL MASTER!
Ernest was preceded in death by his: parents: Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Dorothy Surginer; wife: Mrs. Loretta Murray-Surginer; son: Brandon Jermaine Surginer and sister: Ms. Juanita LaDoris Surginer.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his: brothers: Harold Surginer and LeonDarryl Surginer; sisters: Geraldine Surginer (of Philadelphia), Deloris Epps, and Janice Surginer; two aunts: Mrs. Helen Porterfield and Mrs. Leona James. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, many, many, many friends and a very special friend: Ms. Cynthia Smith.
