Eric Tyler Hughes, Jr. was born August 11, 1992, in Brunswick, Georgia. He was the son of Eric Tyler Hughes, Sr. and Verna D. Robinson Thomas, and the biological son of Alfred Thomas. He departed this life expectantly on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Eric was educated in the public schools of Georgia, where he graduated from Glenn Academy in Brunswick. At the time of his departure, he was a dedicated employee with the Walmart Corporation at the Spring Valley, Northeast, Columbia location.
Eric lived his life as though he was a miracle. Relocating to Columbia from Brunswick, GA saved his life, and he did not mind sharing that with others. He used the time that God gave him to care for his finance’, children, and other family members. He tried to be an example to others (especially his siblings) showing them that your surroundings or circumstances don’t have to dictate your future. He enjoyed playing basketball (where it is said he was straight), gaming, watching football, and being around family and friends. His favorite teams were Golden State and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eric was a loving fiancé, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Though he is no longer physically with us, his loving and kind spirit will forever live in the hearts and lives of all those he so lovingly touched.
He was preceded in death by uncles, Fred Tilman and Reggie Frazier; aunts, Mary Abel, Janice Golden, and Kathleen Flowers; great-grandparents, Essie Mae Lawrence, Issiac and Wilhelmine Robinson; great-uncles, Robert Masey, Alfred, Thomas, and Larry Lawrence.
