Mrs. Elizabeth Boles McDuffie, affectionately known as “Moma” and “Aunt Elizabeth,” was born July 9, 1929, the eighth of eight children born to the late John and Eloise Boles. She transitioned peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the age of 96.
She was educated in the public schools of Richland County.
Elizabeth was a hardworking woman who found purpose in caring for others through her dedicated work in the homes she served. She was deeply loved by those she worked for, and her presence was truly missed upon her retirement.
Mrs. McDuffie joined Central Baptist Church at an early age, where she faithfully served as an Usher.
As the matriarch of the family, Elizabeth was a beautiful soul with a warm spirit and a radiant smile. She loved her family dearly, and her greatest joy was bringing everyone together. Sundays and holidays at Mom’s house were filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable meals, moments that will forever live in our hearts.
She was kind, loving, and full of grace. Even during her later years, when she became bedridden, her great-grandchildren would always remind her of how beautiful she was.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, SFC Troy E. McDuffie; cherished grandson, Marcus Johnson; and all seven of her siblings, MaryBell, Mazie, Ruth, Katie, Wilbert, Arthur, and Robert.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories are her children, Barbara Heyward, Patricia (Keith) Johnson, Edward Michael Davis, and Frank Boles Davis; grandchildren, Courtney Richardson, Jessica (Dennis Sr.) Scott, Porsha Heyward, Kareem Johnson, Jicoby (Tiffany) Pickens Sr., Taure Boles Davis, and Pachia Davis; great-grandchildren, Aravia Patterson, Tatiyana Richardson, Donniesha Richardson, Londyn Richardson, Courdell Patterson, Dennis Scott Jr., Jessaria Scott, Kamren Heyward Bentley, Destiny Scott, Jicoby Pickens Jr., Journey Pickens, Ava Davis and Elaine Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss her, but rejoice that she is now resting with the Lord.
