Elizabeth Pearson, born July 8, 1937 to Agnes White Melson and Riley Pearson in Monticello, SC, was the oldest of 3 children. Her life’s connections run deep and wide. She was best known for her beautiful smile, keen wit, kind heart, and courageous spirit. She enjoyed basketball in her youth and worked diligently into adulthood as an Evisceration Team Leader and Line Supervisor. Elizabeth Stone received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Brown Chapel Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the choir, as usher, and church clerk/secretary.
On February 27, 1955 Elizabeth married David Stone of Dawkins, South Carolina where they shared 52 happy years as husband and wife. Elizabeth was preceded in death by: her mother and father, her two younger siblings, Riley Pearson Jr. and Blanche Archie, both of Columbia, SC, her husband David Stone, and her daughter-in-law Teresa Stone.
Elizabeth leaves to honor and cherish her memory her five loving children:
David Stone Jr. of Columbia, SC , Glenn Stone (Josie) of Blythewood, SC, Michael Stone Sr. of Charlotte, NC, Elaine Stone-Brown (James) of Abingdon, MD, and Agnes Glennette Hendrix (Gregory) of Fredericksburg, VA.
She was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren:
Cornelius Stone, Selbvrea Stone, Sonya Stone-Rogers, Shannon Hardy, Glenda M. Stone-Williams, LaKenya Greene, Michael Stone Jr., Sherrell Hendrix, Joshua Stone, Jeremiah Stone, Christian Hendrix, Rainey Kanyini (formerly Gregory Hendrix Jr.), and Alexis Brame.
Elizabeth was also blessed with twenty-six great-grandchildren along with a host of cherished nephews, nieces, other loving relatives, and dear friends.
Elizabeth will be missed by her family and extended friends in Blair, Jenkinsville, Monticello, Fredericksburg, VA, and her loving friends who assisted Glennette most recently in her care, Monique Cascoe, Ms. Maude Everett, and Jackie Arrington.
Elizabeth’s life was one of love, strength, and grace, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
