Eliza Nixon was born August 16, 1945 in Eastover, SC to the late Ed Harris and Louise Powell-Harris. She was blessed with a “Bonus Mom”, the late Nelly Taylor who helped raise her. Her Union with George Nixon Jr created four beautiful daughters.
Eliza Nixon accepted Christ at an early age. She started at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, then served as a Deacon’s wife at St. Matthews Baptist Church, and later on, was a faithful member of Shiloh AME Church. She also liked to sing in the Choir.
She graduated from Webber High School where she was very active in Basketball. She also went to Angeline’s School of Beauty and started a career as a Beautician. Her love of cooking was shown through her work as a chef at a local school. She also worked as a cashier at the Sunbeam Bread Company where she retired.
Eliza Nixon was preceded in death by Husband of 50 years (George Nixon Jr), Her sister Ozella (Joe)Nathan and brother-in-law Willie E Gunter, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters Linda Diane King-Hall, Gwendolyn Nixon, Earlene (John) Nixon-Gallman, and Darlene (Tyrie) Giden; six siblings Loretta Gunter, Edna M Gray, Kathrine (Wilbert) Harris-Jordan, Ulysses (Marie) Harris, Doris Harris, Odell (Doris) Harris Sr; nine Grandchildren Curtisha King, Sade’King, Darnika (Montae) Nixon-Thomas, Tyrice Giden, Savannah Nixon, Jonathan Gallman, Jordan Gallman, Jessica Geiger and Kayla Giden; five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephew, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and many other loving relatives.
