Clinton Dixon, Sr. was born on April 24, 1957, in Columbia, South Carolina, the beloved son of the late James Dixon and Birdie Mae Ferguson. He departed his earthly life on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
Clinton attended the public schools of Richland County and attended C. A. Johnson High School. He worked numerous occupations: plant worker, maintenance for the City of Florence, security guard for Florence District One schools, and he sold prepaid legal services.
In Clinton’s early 20s, he gave his life to Christ and was baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. He served at the Progressive Church of our Lord Jesus Christ for over 15 years. In 1994, he was ordained an Elder in the Lord’s church. He was the quintessential evangelist; he walked the streets of Columbia and Florence witnessing to countless souls. Many have testified of their encounters with him persuading them to accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
Clinton Dixon Sr. enjoyed teaching and preaching the word of God; he was an evangelist, pastor, and poet. He wrote two anthologies of poetry entitle “Powerful Truths”. He also has several videos on YouTube expounding on the Word of God. Elder Dixon loved the house of God; he didn’t mind fasting for days, weeks, or months to get a breakthrough. In his final days, he was still worshiping, praying, and singing praises to God. Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love for God and others that will forever be remembered.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Willie Dixon.
Clinton leaves to cherish his fond memories his loving and devoted wife, Gloria Dixon of Florence, SC; two sons, Clinton (Ania) Dixon Jr. and Timothy Dixon, both of Florence, SC; two daughters, Tabitha (Elder Venteral) McDowell of Florence, SC; Rachel (Pastor Johnny) Brown of Gastonia, NC; one brother, Charles Cokely of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Janie Shell of Columbia, SC; and Shirley Swinton of Charlotte, NC; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
