El Kahill Bey (a.k.a.) James Adamson was born in New York City on June 15, 1941. He passed away in Columbia, South Carolina on November 9, 2025.
He graduated from high school and later successfully completed his training at the New York State Corrections Academy to become a Corrections Officer.
He worked at several prisons in Upstate New York and enjoyed his camaraderie with his fellow correction officers and their fishing adventures tackling their share of fighting blue fish in the early morning hours.
El was known by the name of "Bear" by the inmates who respected him for the way he treated them. He also became a tractor trailer driver around the New York area and beyond, as travelling and being on the road was a favorite pastime of his.
As a member of the Trinity Baptist Church family, he thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship he had with his brethren. He was in his chosen element work in the sound booth making audio recordings, duplicates, and videos. He was always one who engaged in sharing information and having diverse dialogue with others. His loving spirit, genuine, kindness, and compassion toward others were key factors to a life well-lived.
