Dwaine Edward Rogers was born on September 29, 1985, at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina, the beloved son of Larry and Maxine Rogers. He passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina.
Dwaine attended BC1 Grammar School and Northside Middle School. He graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 2003. His first job was at Waffle House, and in 2004, he joined the United States Navy, where he served with honor for eight years.
Following his military service, Dwaine furthered his education at Arizona State University and worked at Janaki Industrial in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. In 2015, he moved to Alaska to pursue a career as a commercial fisherman. He retired from fishing in 2020 as a veteran.
Dwaine was an active member of Turner Memorial AME Church, where he found spiritual fellowship and community. In 2012, Dwaine gave his life to Christ and was baptized in the Samish River in Bow, Washington.
He enjoyed cooking on the grill, reading his Bible, spending time with family and friends, making funny videos, and taking lots of pictures. His warmth, humor, and love for life touched everyone who knew him.
Dwaine was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Purnell Sr., Azell Purnell, Annie B. Rogers, Edward Rogers, and Betty Rogers, as well as by multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his loving parents, Larry and Maxine Rogers; the mother of his children, Patricia Rodriguez; three daughters, Maya, Layla, and Makayla Rogers; three sisters, Brenda Cokley, Kim Marie Rogers, and Jennifer Payne; two brothers-in-law, Terry Cokley, and David Payne. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will cherish his memory.
Dwaine will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him. His smile will forever be missed.
