Dustin Nichol Cunningham affectionally known as “Perm” was born on May 22, 1971, to Shirley Hogan Cunningham and the late Lewis Cunningham, in Anderson, SC. He transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Dustin was educated in the public schools Richland County where he attended and graduated C. A. Johnson High School in Columbia, SC. After graduating, he attended Midlands Technical College. In 1992, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he had an exemplary career. SFC-E7 Cunningham was a 68W Health Care Specialist. He toured in Hawaii, Korea, Afghanistan as well as the United States. He received numerous medals and awards including the Humanitarian Service award, Meritorious Service award, Army Achievement award, and many others during his military career.
Outside of the Army the best award that Dustin ever received was his Baptism Certificate on April 1, 1984, where he was baptized at the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Columbia, SC.
Dustin was also a member of the Santee Cooper Resort Family in Santee, SC. He was a “Mr. Whatever You Need Man.” The friendliest person you would ever meet. He was loved by all and will surely be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He leaves to mourn his passing his stepfather and mother, Samuel and Shirley King; two daughters, Jasmine Cunningham, Jada Cunningham; granddaughter, Bobbi Fulp; three brothers, Darrin (Tabitha) Cunningham, Jimmy (Jamie) Cunningham, and Darius Cunningham; one sister, Delaiah Snowden; two stepbrothers, Damon Jeter, and Juan Jeter; three stepsisters, Paige Moore, Serwaa Stafford, and Yolanda King; three mother figures, Iris Cunningham, Virgina MacDonald, and Myrtle (Cunningham) Pankey; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and great friends that will miss him dearly.
