She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at the Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Killian, South Carolina, in accordance with Acts 2:38, and soon after was filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost as described in Acts 2:4. During her tenure at Progressive Church, Sister Payne served in the Children’s Church, the Senior Women’s Auxiliary, and the Missionary Board. Her generosity knew no bounds as she dedicated over 60 years of faithful service to her church.
Sister Payne was employed by C. M. Tucker Center, from which she retired after more than 26 years of service. Her greatest passion was serving in the children’s ministry and helping family members care for their children.
