Dorothy Boykin George

Dorothy Boykin George affectionately known as Dot was born March 18, 1935, in Columbia SC. 

Dot was the eldest child of the late Kizziah (Kizzie) Sumpter Boykin and Lemon (Lee) Boykin. She transitioned from her earthly home on Sunday, June 28, 2020.

She was educated in the public schools of Richland County and a graduate of Benedict College with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. She was a teacher at Edgefield Elementary School and later Cornerstone Day Care Center in Brooklyn, NY for 23 years from where she retired. She was married to her husband Zellie George for 54 years.  

Dot was a member of Second Union Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. She was a lifetime learner, always interested in learning new things and teaching them too. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Zellie George; her son Gordon George Sr.; her mother and father Kizzie and Lee Boykin. 

She leaves behind her grandchildren, Adrienne Jenkins of Douglasville GA, Gordon George Jr. of Columbia, SC, and Jetrell (Jermaine) Davis of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Jalaya Jenkins of Douglasville, GA, and Journee Davis of Columbia, SC; her brother, David (Thedra) Boykin of Columbia, SC; her sister, Pamela Boykin of Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law, Patsy George; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
