Doris Elizabeth Duggins Rodgers Daniel peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, in Columbia, SC. She was born on July 30, 1934, in Williamston (Martin County), NC., the daughter of the late George and Leda Mae Duggins.
Doris was a good and faithful servant and church mother at Philippi Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ in Norfolk, VA until she became ill in 2016 and relocated to Nashville, TN. She retired at the age of 55 from Montgomery Ward’s department store. After retirement she spent her life serving God and her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Leda Mae Duggins, both of her husbands, James R. Rodgers and James Thomas Daniel; her sisters, Frances Evans and Faye Stanford, and her son, Charles L. Rodgers.
She is survived by her sons, James Kenya (Kenny) Rodgers, Derwin (Mitchell) Rodgers, George A. Rodgers, Steven P. Rodgers, and their wives; her daughters, Frances Rodgers-Kilpatrick and Wanda K. Wilmore; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; last surviving sister, Myrtle Lucy Belle Duggins-Hassell-Atkinson and an extended family which includes a host of nephews, nieces, and close friends who were all special in her heart.
